An important new article by Sara McLanahan from Princeton University and her colleagues (from Cornell U and UC Berkeley), entitled “The Causal Effects of Father Absence” in the leading sociology journal, the Annual Review of Sociology (2013).  Conclusion: father absence causes (rather than is just correlated with) the multiple problems we see in children who are estranged from their fathers.
