UPDATE: Verizon has withdrawn the movie from the Internet, but still has misinformation on DV on their website!

Verizon Teaches Little Girls to  Fear their Dads

Shame on You, Verizon!

Verizon Foundation has put out a video that teaches little girls to fear their fathers as abusive and dangerous “monsters.” You can see the ugly video for yourself: http://www.multivu.com/mnr/52044-verizon-foundation-national-domestic-hotline-video-launch-monsters

The video’s perverse message can be summed in this slide: “She’s afraid of her dad.” (Appears 28 seconds into the video.)

There’s one word that sums up the biases found in this 2-minute video: Shameful.

“This video is particularly disturbing since the use of animation makes it appealing to children. It smears adult men as the only abusers in a household, when the fact is women are as likely to abuse their partners as men,” explains SAVE spokesman Philip W. Cook. “This video is dangerously harmful to children and to families.”

Verizon Batters the Truth

Hundreds of research studies reveal Women are as likely as men to physically abuse: http://csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htm

  • Just last week, TV starlet Kim Kardashian was caught on camera slugging her husband.
  • Crystal Gail Mangum, former Duke University lacrosse false accuser, who fatally stabbed her boyfriend last April.
  • Katherine Liu Becker of California admitted last summer to drugging her husband, lashing him to a bed, and cutting off his genitals.
  • In Canada, newborn babies have been killed and dumped, almost always by mothers, not fathers.

But some people want to keep the problem of female abuse hidden in the closet.
