Our son has been trying for over 2 years to get 50/50 custody, has spent about $70 000, is now in debt, has moved in with us, and still no end in sight. Chief Justice Warren Winkler’s presumptive mediation would have made all the difference for our family, and certainly would have been in the best interests of our 7 year old grandson, which everyone purports to be serving, but have failed miserably to do.
I have made presentations to the Minister of Justice Hon Andrew Swan, Directors of the Family Law branch and Family Conciliation and the Manitoba Bar Association at their Town Hall meeting. I have written to all the MLAs in Manitoba, to all the MPs across Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada, to all the Ministers of Justice and all the Bar Associations across Canada, to the Dean and Associate Dean of Law in Manitoba, and Chief Justice of Manitoba Richard Scott. I included information from Chief Justice Winkler and William Eddy, therapist and now family law attorney, which supported my plea for family law reform. I received only a few responses, but with no intention to do anything.
Is there anyone in Winnipeg working with CEPC, that I could contact/meet? I have spent hundreds of hours writing letters, etc., with no success. Maybe I could help in some other way.
