Here is the complete text of the request:
We the undersigned, residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House of Commons to the following:
That 1) Thousands of fit parents lose their children each year in Canada’s divorce system due to cost, inaccessibility and unfairness, and 2) Children of divorce are profoundly disadvantaged through loss of a parent, and 3) The current process is contrary to the Charter guarantees of equal protection and benefit of the law, to Canada’s commitments on the rights of the child, and to guarantees of fundamental freedoms.
Therefore, your petitioners request the House of Commons to change the Divorce Act, regulations and family law practice so that no fit parent is removed from parenting their child against their will without a clear finding of unfitness.
